The Damn Truth Live at The Musician: Unleashing Rock Power – Gig Review

The Damn Truth

What can I say about last night, it was absolutely incredible! This gig left me speechless. Undoubtedly the best performance I’ve witnessed all year. Each member of the band poured their heart and soul into the show, giving it their all. An unforgettable experience!

Last night, The Musician in Leicester bore witness to a sensational performance by Montreal’s very own rock powerhouse, The Damn Truth. With a near sell-out crowd eagerly awaiting their arrival, the band delivered an electrifying set that left the audience buzzing with excitement.

Drawing from their impressive discography, The Damn Truth treated fans to a dynamic blend of high-energy rock, carrying an undeniable zest throughout the entire performance. Their fusion of tracks from the albums ‘Devilish Folk’ (2016) and ‘Now Or Nowhere’ (2022) seamlessly showcased the band’s evolution, proving that their earlier gems hold their own against the newer hits.

Lee-La Baum’s vocals were nothing short of magnificent, with her unique trill adding a captivating touch to the soaring high notes. Complemented by Tom Shemer’s frenetic lead guitar work, the musical chemistry between them was evident. The backbone of the band, PY Letellier on bass and vocals, and Dave Traina on drums and vocals, operated like a well-oiled machine, propelling the music at breakneck speed while effortlessly shifting gears. Dave even treated us to a killer drum solo.

The Damn Truth’s tightness as a unit was awe-inspiring, appearing relaxed on stage yet delivering a performance that was flawlessly coordinated. There were moments when my ears couldn’t believe what my eyes were witnessing.

Kicking off the night with an explosive rendition of ‘This Is Who We Are Now,’ the crowd erupted into a frenzy right from the start. The set was filled with highlights, including the mesmerizing ‘Only Love’ and a stunning version of ‘Get With You’ that left the audience in awe.

For the encore, The Damn Truth unleashed ‘Heart is Cold,’ which saw Lee-La channeling her inner psychedelic Janis, leaving the audience in a euphoric state.

This gig unquestionably ranks among the best shows of the year, and the anticipation for their next performance in October, supporting Glenn Hughes, is palpable. The Damn Truth’s ability to captivate a room with their raw energy and exceptional musicianship is truly a marvel to behold. Last night, they lit up The Musician with a performance that will be etched in the memories of Leicester’s rock enthusiasts for a long time to come.

The good news is this tour is not over, you still have time to get a ticket, believe me when I say you don’t want to miss this.
