The Damn Truth – This Is Who We Are Now Single Review

Reminiscent of Beth Hart and Janis Joplin, Lee-La Baum has a voice to die for, and it’s showcased to thrilling effect on the sparkling new single This Is Who We Are Now. With one foot in the psychedelic era, The Damn Truth avoid the retro-fetishism of their peers, thanks to a performance that feels entirely of the moment and Bob Rock’s astonishing production, which gives the band gloss and depth in spades. Pick out what you will – the aching guitars of Tom Shemer, the rampant percussive might of Dave Traina or the salacious bass groove of Py Letterlier – the band don’t put a foot wrong and, if the album follows the same path, it’s set to lunch the band into the stratosphere. A captivating single, This Is Who We Are Now is a statement of intent that’s utterly impossible to ignore.

Don’t take our word for it, however – just check the damned thing out!
